GSK Research and Production Campus Ware

Development framework study for GlaxoSmithKline’s 150,000m2 campus in a sensitive location on the edge of a historic town and bordering a major river and ancient flood meadows.

The development framework guides and assist decisions on future development, and is encapsulated in a comprehensive manual that reviews previous studies, analyses the environmental and planning context, assesses services and energy provisions and evolves a clear set of guidelines – or design parameters – that provide a flexible but coherent framework for future development.

The central strategy is to better bond research and production activities in order to nurture a ‘common site’ approach among staff – where maximum synergistic benefit can be drawn from the co-location of drug discovery and commercialisation.

Study complete January 2010.
